Q7 Evaluation

Looking back at your preliminary task, what do you feel you have learnt in the progression from it to the full product?

The image on the top shows 4 different frames from my prelim task and the bottom image shows 4 different frames from my final film in a corresponding order to the image of the prelim task.

The frames on the top left on each images were match on action and it shows the main character walking through a doorway, and filming a match on action in my prelim task was not precisely well as the camera was quite shakey therefore the match on action did not flow very well from the previous shot as it was quite jumpy. However, I took this into consideration and made sure that in my final film, my match on action flowed well from the previous shot and the camera was at a levelled angle so I wouldn't end up losing marks. 
Also, I had a similar problem in the frames on the bottom left on each image, the angle of the camera on the prelim task was not straight therefore causing the shot to look like a long shot, when it was meant to be a mid close-up. Therefore, in my final film, I made sure that I maintained the camera at an even angle and had a clear mid close-up of the main character.

Furthermore, the frame on the top right on each image, shows a close-up on the characters to capture their facial expression. On the prelim task, I thought I did the close-up very well and I knew to use the camera at the right angle for the audience to have a clear shot at the character's face expression, so I used this same skill on my final film, so the audience could see the panic on the victim's face.

Moreover, the bottom right frame on each of the images shows the character covering their face with their hands and talking about their distressing moments and crying. However, in my prelim film, the lightning was poor so in this particular shot the character was blacked out and not clearly seen, therefore I made sure that in my final film when the character was talking about her distressing moments, the lightning was clear so there wouldn't be any trouble viewing the main character.

To conclude, the mistakes I made on my prelim task, I took them into consideration and made sure that I didn't make the same mistakes as I did it my prelim task, so I could get a higher mark and to make sure that these silly mistakes do not make me fall behind.

Q6 Evaluation

What have you learnt about technologies from the process of constructing this product?


During the process of constructing my coursework, I have learnt how to manage a camcorder and how to make it look professional by using different camera angles and camera shots. Also, I have learnt how to edit my films on Adobe PremierePro for my recorded data to look interesting and professional like what is shown on TV and in films. Adobe PremierePro taught me that I could adapt and edit any piece of footage that I have so even if its a very rough piece of footage that is not very good, I could edit it to make it look proficient.
Furthermore, Adobe Photoshop was an interesting software to use, at first I found it hard and complicated, but then after practice I found it very useful to define an image and to make the quality of an image look specialised.

Q3 Evaluation

What kind of media institution might distribute your media product and why?

The most important thing I need to consider is how I am going to advertise my film for my target audience to be attracted to my film.

Momentum Pictures is the distributor company that I would like to market my film as it is one of the leading independent distributors in the UK and it distributed award-winning films such as The King's Speech, The Woman in Black, etc.
Momentum even distributed popular horror, thriller films such as The Woman in Black (2012) and Let The Right One In (2008) and Insidious (2011), which shows that Momentum is an adequate distribution company to market my film.

The three different examples of how I would like Momentum Pictures to distribute my film:

Trailers
Trailers would be an effective method to reach my target audience because trailers could be posted and advertised anywhere via Television, Websites, Cinemas etc. My Trailer would give my target audience basic information of the plot of my film and it would make people intrigued and the desire to view more from my film.
Also, Trailers are the single most cost-effective marketing method therefore this method would be most productive.

Premieres
Even though premieres are expensive to organise, it is very productive for the target audience and the producers and distributors of the film because it would give the producers and distributors an idea of how popular the film is because of news media, celebrity publications and after-show parties which would also publicise the film. Premieres would be mostly be taken place in well-known areas such as Leceister Square, London, where the audience of the film could visit to meet the cast and the crew of the film which would be exciting for the audience and it would make them even more accelerated for the film.

Posters
Posters are very eye catching because it explains alot of information about the film on one image. A diversity of people view posters and it attracts people from different cultures, age and social class. Posters could present a successful marquee that has an appearence in the film, which would give impressive reviews from the media and the audience. Posters are presented in a variety of different places such as buses, billboards, cinemas etc. Also, the distributor will provide other display materials for cinema foyers such as cardboard standees, banners, window clings and mini-posters, which would be effective for the audience to acknowledge the film when they view another.


Q4 Evalution

Who would be the audience for your media product?



My typical member of my audience is Georgette, and she is 17 years old. She doesn't scare easily, but enjoys watching horror films therefore my horror film would be a good challenge, and my horror opening would probably scare her as it is unpredictable.

Her favourite films are Insidious, Love & Basketball and Phonebooth, therefore Georgette likes a variety of genres including horror, romance and action.


During the weekends she likes to sleep when she has the opportunity to and she likes to work then when she gets home, she likes to relax and watch a good film.

Her favourite cereal is Cookie Crisp. The mode of transport she uses is buses, or a car when she's with a license driver. She lives in Christchurch Road in Tulse Hill and her favourite drink is Rubicon Mango.

Her favourite TV Show is Eastenders because she likes the drama, which could relate to my horror opening as it consists frequent drama and trouble. Her favourite vegetable is broccoli and she enjoys badmintion as a sport.
Georgette's ideal partner would be Channing Tatum or Robbie Williams. Georgette said she would love to go to Saint Lucia for a holiday and her favourite restaurant is Cosmos. The political party she would vote for the Labour party.

I think my horror film would market to Georgette very well as she enjoys watching films and horror films is one of her favourite genre, especially when my movie opening is scary and intense, also my horror consists drama that which would market to Georgette as her favourite TV show is Eastenders, which a very dramatic and intense soap.
